The Greatest of All Time…

Today at work we (Taylor, Andy, & Eric) got into a discussion about the greatest actor of all time. There is no Acting Olympics, and while I love Bill Simmons, his theory of basing this decision on awards is flawed, as lots of very excellent performances get left out of awards season, based on ridiculousness and baby fights. Discussions like this can only be objective.

I love Robert Duvall. I love him. He’s definitely up there for me. The dude studied with Meisner, was named most versatile actor by the Guiness World Book of Records (how they measured that, I don’t know), and he’s had a role in more AFI Top 100 Greatest Movies than any other actor. Plus, he’s just awesome. No, he rules. Looking at his resume on IMDB, however, there are lots of movies Bobby has been in that I’ve never seen. Tomorrow, The Great Santini, Days of Thunder, etc. So, my new goal is to watch (or re-watch) all of Bobby’s movies.

I start tonight with whatever is on Netflix Instant. Sling Blade it is.

Sling Blade is fantastic…but it will probably leave you going “Why didn’t Billy Bob continue THIS career path?” instead of “RD is amazing…”

The Great Santini (Sp?) is a must see, AND a must read. Seriously. The book is so much better. Pat Conroy I believe? Teh basketball scene is seriously hard to watch.

    Bobby D rules.

Taylor thinks Brad Pitt is the GOAT. Lame.

(BTW, the word verification I was asked to type in was nousnedl. That’s what I think of Taylor’s opinions re: Bobby D. Pure nousnedl.)
