So what about infant baptism?
Is it wrong? Is it right? Does it matter at all? Does it matter the most?
I witnessed my first infant baptism on Sunday. I am still processing my thoughts, Scripture, and the way I was raised on this issue.
But until then, does anyone have any wisdom for me on this?
I am Presbyterian, and we practice infant baptism. I was a small group leader at church camp this summer and one of my kids (incidentally from Canyon
) said it most elloquently. She said, “I was baptised as an infant. I didn’t have to find Christ to be saved. He’s been there all along.”
Provided a lot of clarity for me.

I grew up Methodist and have seen my fair share of infant baptism. To me, infant baptism is a commitment by the parents to raise their child to love Christ, NOT a guarantee that they will go to Heaven.
Even if you were baptized as an infant, you should be baptized as an adult, as it has more meaning for you, seeing as you’re the one who made the decision.
well, i don’t know that i have wisdom on this…i wouldn’t say it’s wrong i guess. i just don’t believe that it should take the place of baptism after one has accepted Christ. anyway, love your blog. i always come here when i need a good laugh!
I am with my brother on this. I’ve seen a lot of infant baptisms. It is simply just a commitment that the parents promise to raise the child in a Godly home. The child should later get baptized on their own when they are ready to make that decision.
Thought you would enjoy this. It is from our former pastor at OMPC in Birmingham. He gives a more theological spill on it.
